Divebums has moved!

Hi All,

Divebums has moved to a new site - www.divebums.org. The site is still under construction and hopefully by the time it is up and running, we can actively contribute to the diving scene in Brunei. =)

Cleaning up the dust and spiders

It has been ages since we updated our dive village. And i believe most of you agree that our diving activities has been almost non-existent, due to everyone's busy schedule. Caryn and some other folks have picked up diving recently and we hope we can all try to maintain one of our favourite past time.

More to come!

My Love For Lembeh - An Affair Of My Heart

To start 2008, I like to wish all in DB Happy New Year by starting the season off with some of my images. I dedicate (slowly in this thread) my love for Lembeh, North Sulawesi Indonesia through these images.

Note: *Please show some morals by not plagiarizing my works*

What's in our waters?

06 August 2007

Divebums is a virtual kampung (village) built for divers in Brunei and our friends all over the world when they return to shore. This is where we are all united by our curiousity and love for the deep blue sea.

Get to know fellow divers in Brunei and around the world, share your diving experiences, tips on underwater photography and videography, tell us what is the best dive gears in the market now.. discuss anything and everything about the world down under.

Brunei is famously known as the Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures, however unbeknown to many, these treasures extend beyond its sea level. In our waters lie untouched and unspoilt coral reefs; incredibly healthy and stunning blend of hard and soft corals that is home to a great variety of marine life. Tucked in deeper waters are some WWII era and post-war vessels, such as the MV Tung Hwang @ Cement Wreck - which is quoted as the most photogenic wreck in Asia Pacific.

Most of you know that approximately 80% of Earth's surface is covered by water and 97% of that is saltwater. We are the lucky few among billions of people on Earth to have seen the magnificient world of our fishy friends. You got gills?

P.S: Non-divers who loves the sea but would rather get to know it/explore it from dry land are most welcome to be our friends too. :)

Fish ID

Hi bummies, we're currently working on adding more content to this forum so bear with us for the time being. We're also creating photo albums for different family of marine species and corals. Please feel free to add pictures of your own and we will add them to the albums accordingly. This enables us to build up our own fish id database in Brunei and also allow others to appreciate our friends down below. Having said so, when adding pictures to the album, please try to provide the information below:
-Name your fish/creature
-Describe any notable behaviour/surroundings when you saw them
-Locate the country that you saw them in the map provided
- and lastly tag them accordingly to their family.
If you're not sure what fish is it or which family does it belong to, do upload the picture in the Forum - Fish ID/Behaviour and we'll try our best to ID it for you.

Also feel free to share any exciting dive videos in your recent trips with us. Laters! :)

P.S: Remember to watermark your pictures if you do not wish to have them snitched by aliens and keep them to a minimal size (e.g. 50k) - so that it restricts any commercial usefulness. A free option to watermark your pictures is using Photoshop: 1. Open your image
2. Use the 'Horizontal Type' tool by pressing 'T', and add in your copyright status, notice and your name, year etc. and select White as the default text colour.
3. Go to Layers palette, highlight the text layer - use the Opacity tool on the top right hand corner and reduce visibility to 50% or to your liking.
It's a simple method, which may be bypassed by clever image editing, but serves as a useful deterent.

Alternatively you can use an invisible digital watermark, which is a paid service. You will need to register with www.digimarc.com
